This place is superb, and not as expensive as the level of the food and service. There is lovely sage burning, and greek music playing. The food is very Crete localised - legume found only on Crete, Cretan wild herbs, Cretan cheeses. I had three starters because these were the vegan options - a salad with chickpeas and that legume, a herb not unlike mangold in sauce and creamy fava beans with Cretan olives and bulbs of a local plant. The salad was the best, then the ascordilia (I think it was called) which was really good, and the fava dish was nice but it does need the anchovies (which I asked to have removed). My husband had mushrooms with local cheese and a boureka with meat, both were excellent. We also received a soup like thing which was nice, and a dessert with raki, both were good - no, the Cretan halva was incredible. Service was great. Prices are very reasonable for this sort of restaurant (54 euros). We recommend.

All around, it's an amazing experience! I love the farm-to-table concept, and that all of the food is local. It was so good I even went twice. I highly recommend the lamb over risotto, that was perfect. The second time, I tried the goat. It was also wonderful, but the vegetables were just a bit too salty for me to finish them. Granted, I do not eat separate pieces of fat and I know that takes the edge off of the salt, so the dish is probably balanced the way it is. I was also given a complimentary small welcome soup, plate of semolina halva for dessert, raki, and when I said I was nonalcoholic, a shot of lemonade instead. The soup is so good it makes you giddy when you first try it. The semolina halva is amazing, it's almost worth going just for that! The lemonade was also good. It's a welcoming atmosphere with exceptional staff so friendly you'd think you're in Japan. The food is filling, and there's no issue for safety, either. I left 30 minutes before midnight on a Tuesday and there were still four other groups seated. All of the main city center streets were still lit and bustling with people, even. Overall, it's my favorite restaurant in all of Greece and certainly worth your visit!

Absolutely amazing experience at Peskesi - we arrived early afternoon as walk ins and were asked if we could wait an hour for a table which we were happy to do! We sat in the shade and were given menus, ordered some lovely wine based on recommendations, and were also given some complimentary cheese, olives, and tomatoes. We were happy to wait and the atmosphere was super calm and tranquil. The menu was really interesting to read as it goes into detail regarding the organic ethos of the restaurant and details how far away the food for each dish travelled to make to from farm to plate. A really good range of price points too! We ordered 4 starters and 2 mains and honestly for 3 that was too much, we were stuffed but very happy! The salads were beautiful, so fresh and light. The lamb just completely fell apart and the rice was amazing, while the chicken was moist, flavoursome, and hearty. Our selection of starters were all fantastic: baked potatoes with cheese, crispy cheese rolls with fig jam, and marinated anchovies - all beautiful. The staff were fantastic (especially the LFC supporting waiter), super attentive and made our experience absolutely gorgeous. The complimentary bread and beetroot dip was delicious, as was the rose raki and sweet treat at the end. Would highly recommend while in Crete!!!
